The continued growth of the Polish mushroom sector was noted with export volumes tripling in ten years according to latest statistics.
The Polish industry produces 207 thousand tonnes with a value of €308 million. The current EU ban on trading fresh fruit and veg with Russia is diverting a lot of polish exports that previously went to that country.
The UK is one of the destinations for Polish mushrooms too, which makes it obviously a direct competitor for the Irish mushroom industry.
Poland versus Ireland - sounds like a match from the Euro Soccer finals earlier in the summer. Rivals can also be good friends thankfully!
