Some safety concerns have been raised by TransportNI over plans for the new mushroom production facility in Augher.
In April the road Authority expressed its concern that the proposals include plans to provide direct access to a trunk route. It has recently expressed its belief that the access proposal falls short of the department's road safety standards.
In light of the concerns raised by TransportNI a site visit will take place before any decision is taken. As of yet, no date has been set for this visit. Local councillors are hopeful that planning approval for the factory will go ahead when any outstanding issues are resolved.
SDLP Councillor Sean McGuigan Said; “ Everybody is in support of bringing more business to the area. Discussion between TransportNI and the planning committee are underway. We want to see the factory open but we have to be mindful of these issues.”
“It is my hope that the talks between the business, planning committee and TransportNI can be resolved to everyone’s satisfaction.”
