New car sales in the Republic surpassed 100,000 for the first six months of the year, up 23 per cent on last year.
It is predicted that the new car registrations will reach 150,000 for the first time since 2008.
It is possible that the uncertainty following the Brexit vote might throw a wobbly into the predictions. However as a bellwether for economic health the new car reg figures look pretty good.
