News that CMP have launched a court case seeking €12 million in funding that it claims it is owed by the government in the South came out of the blue.
The claim relates to alleged unlawful withholding of EU financial aid by the Department of Agriculture, which CMP claims led to losses of €12 million.
The rules and laws involved with Producer Organisations (PO’s) is quite complicated it seems, on a national and supranational level. This court case will take a while to pan out, as most legal proceedings do.
Let’s hope it all works out beneficially on all sides.
