In Ireland in the first five months of 2016, 93,347 new private cars were licensed, a rise of 23.3% compared with the same period last year.
In May alone there was a 12.2 % rise in new cars licensed according to the CSO (Central Statistics Office). IN the UK new car sales rose 2.5 % with registrations rising to 203, 585, making it the busiest May for 14 years according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Total new regs in UK so far this year is 1,164, 870 a 4.1 % increase compared with the same period in 2015.
Although it seems the market is moderating in the UK the increase is Ireland is quite phenomenal.
