The weather stats for May from Met Eireann were all pretty good. For Spring as a whole from March to May the season was generally cool and dry.
It was a chilly March and April, but May temperatures brought the seasonal average up. The highest temperature for Spring was 25.4C in Belmullet Co. Mayo, on May 9th, while March 18th was the coolest day in the Republic this Spring. May also saw below average rainfall at all the country’s weather stations - it was a dry and dusty month.
Globally May was recorded as the hottest month on record according to the UN’s World Meteorological Organisation ( WMO).
