Clones, Co.Monaghan and Castlederg, Co.Tyrone were the two official hotspots this summer on the island of Ireland – both recorded highs of 25.6 degrees Celsius in August.
Now that we're in the autumn it may surprise folk that August is officially now regarded as having been one of the hottest and driest that we've had in years. Rain levels were half of the usual at most weather stations throughout the country and average temperatures were one degree higher!
According to Met Éireann: "June and July were very wet, but August was drier than normal, just about everywhere, since 1995."
