Browsing through the pages of the Mushroom Journal of thirty years ago it is obvious that the theme of marketing mushrooms on a national scale was exercising minds back then. An arresting line penned by the editorial of Denis Locke reads:”Yes I hear many of you say, ‘it’s all the fault of those b….. Irish, Dutch, French and Belgian imports!”
Stalker counted the dots trying to work out the exact word intended.
Elsewhere in the journal is a report on the Kinsealy Open Day and the 3rd Irish National Mushroom conference, as it was called back then, which took place in the Grand Hotel, Malahide.
Tis always interesting looking back at how things were, not with nostalgia, but just to see how things have changed.
