February was the hottest ever, although you wouldn’t have thought it here in Ireland.
Nasa has announced that the month set global temperature records, deviating from historical norms by a wider margin than any month ever recorded, raising further concerns about global warming.
It was the third consecutive month to break the record, calculated by setting the temperature for a particular month against the average temperature for that month from 1951- 1980 - and the first time that three consecutive months have outpaced historical averages.
February was 1.35C above the norm surpassing the 1.14C margin from January of this year. The margin was considerably wider in the Northern hemisphere and the Arctic.
