One effect the whole Brexit debate is having, is the weakening of sterling. The pound has suffered one of its sharpest devaluations ever. In little more than a month it has fallen nearly 7% which is as rapid a rate of decline as was seen in the financial crisis of 2008 and the ERM debacle of the 1990s.In the real world this impacts on the cost of imports for the UK. Irish and European mushrooms will be dearer. That will impact on demand for the imported produce.
