October this year was drier and warmer than average according to Met Office stats. November came in with high temperatures, but swiftly the weather changed to a more bruising winterish feel, with newly named storms battering Ireland and Britain. November had the highest winds recorded for the month in 70 years, the highest rainfall in six years and above average temperatures.
December began very changeably and is set to continue thus; once again gale force winds seem to be more prevalent and storm Desmond brought major flooding. The culprit behind the prolonged spell of wet and windy weather is apparently the polar jet stream.
All the while 2015 is destined for the history books as likely to be the warmest year on record. smashing records in different parts of the globe as the driest, wettest year, with the strongest tropical storms and the warmest ocean temperatures ever recorded.
It seems like every year weather is setting new records; we’re on trend as they say.
