The weather in June was characterised by the dry and by the cold. Dublin had its driest June in 40 years according to Met Éireann.
However it also was abnormally cold for the month with average temperatures a degree below normal in many places in Ireland.
Parts of the west, northwest and southeast were exceptionally cold with the largest difference of minus 1.4 degrees reported at Markee , Co. Sligo( mean temperatures of 11.9 C).
