News reports from The Netherlands of Bulgarian workers being forced to work on a mushroom farm in the country beggar belief.
It’s hard to believe that such practices are still happening within the EU, but then again we all know of stories from the not too distant past when it was happening here on our doorstep.
Workers being “systematically underpaid, and possibly forced to work long work days with virtually no days off” sounds familiar. It must be hoped that this type of abuse is rooted out and clamped down on in the EU.
