New car registrations in Ireland rose by 11% last month compared to may 2014. In the UK too new car sales have risen for the 39th month in a row.
In Ireland car sales are up 26% on the first five months of the year compared to last year. The sale of commercial vehicles, long regarded as a bellwether for economic activity, shows a 56 % rise in light commercial vehicles, with 13,835 new registrations up to the end of May. New economic data shows that Ireland is growing at the fastest rate in the EU. Output is up 4.8 % boosted by domestic demand and strong exports. The average EU growth rate is 1.3%. Things are certainly looking on the up.
