As soon as the news broke that there was the possibility of a new compost plant being built in Tyrone, opposing viewpoints were quickly espoused on the subject in the local papers. Headlines ran “Fears over Industrial Plants Approval.”
Fears were apparently sparked amongst residents in Killeeshil, the townland nearest the proposed compost facility with residents saying that a primary school and four large housing estates will be downwind of the new mushroom composting plant.
Residents fear also that the plant will reduce the value of their properties.
