Stalker notes that Iranian agri-scientists have developed high quality, first generation mushroom spawn, while the first 100 percent Palestinian mushrooms are being produced for the first time. Stalker is aware that there is a demand for Irish know-how and even Irish compost, casing and composting techniques out in the Middle East. It is a region where the demand for mushrooms is very high and thus far supply is nowhere near enough. Enterprising Irish mushroom sector personnel are already involved in projects across the region – which is good to see. No doubt we’ll hear more from the evolving mushroom scene over there.
