EU agriculture commissioner Phil Hogan has promised new legislation to eliminate unfair treatment of suppliers by supermarkets by the end of this year.
It has to be welcomed that such legislation will be enacted at an EU level. The commissioner has said that it is clear that a voluntary code is not working and suppliers were still not getting a fair price for their produce.
