The saying goes that, if Candlemas in bright and clear, there'll be two winters in the one year. Depending on where you were in the country on February 2nd, it was both dull and overcast and bright and clear.
This ancient festival marks the midpoint of winter, halfway between the shortest day and the spring equinox.
So who knows if we're going to get two winters in this year. Maybe we always do, at the start of the year and the end of the year. It’s hard to fault these old weather spakes!
