MET OFFICE COMPUTER
The new Met office computer in the UK cost £100m. The word is it will be giving much more detailed and definitive weather forecasts, with up to 80% accuracy predicted. The new supercomputer does 16 trillion computations per second. The UK Met Office is currently forecasting a wet and mild winter, whereas some media outlets in the UK are predicting the coldest winter in 100 years. Even with the supercomputer, real weather experts say any predictions more than 10 days ahead are impossible.
