A fund set up to encourage growth in the agri-food sector in Northern Ireland has seen £16 million committed to it since its launch in July.
The agri-food fund was established by First Trust Bank with the promise of £50 million to be pumped into the industry. The fund is designed to assist progressive farmers and agri-business across the north to expand and modernise their operations. The focus is on diversification, modernisation and refurbishment.
First trust hooked up with the AFBI (Hillsborough) to introduce a team of 16 agri-food specialists. The bank also promoted its Agri-food Energy Efficiency Loan, to help firms with energy efficiencies in areas such as lighting, solar/PV, wind, biomass and hydro projects.
