This has prompted warnings from the FSAI in Ireland and the PHE (Public Health England) to issue warnings over picking poisonous mushrooms this foraging season.
There were 237 cases of poisoning by mushrooms across Britain last year.
In Ireland there were 19 cases of poisoning by mushroom reported. The main rule would be - check your mushrooms out; identify them by the book and also by an expert in mycology. Then you know they’re safe to eat.
