According to records it was the warmest September globally since records began in the 1880s.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the US said the globally averaged temperatures over land and sea were the hottest for a September since their records began.
It also marked the 38th consecutive September with a global temperature above the 20th century average.
It all goes towards building a picture of global warming perhaps. We have entered the anthropocene epoch according to some geological scientists - when human activities have had a significant global impact on the Earth's ecosystems. For one thing, it has made the weather more interesting!
