Amycel are reportedly introducing a new strain to the European market.
The new strain is called Topaz and is already grown on Monterey farms across the USA. It is a cream Agaricus variety, a mix of white and brown.
Talking to a Dutch contingent visiting the Amycel plant at Vendome, Hubert Hay, Director of Amycel France, said of the new strain: " it has a round shape with a heavy structure, and we see a lot of demand from processing companies already."
Amycel has also recently extended its spawn plant in Vendome France, at the cost of €1.6 million.
The company is certainly showing confidence in the European, African and Middle east markets that it supplies.
