We all noticed the dust settling on cars and windows at the end of March and start of April.
The dreaded Saharan dust was in the air again. Combining with Euro-fumes to cause air pollution levels to soar in the UK the dust certainly made the headlines.
Stalker remembers though that this happened very noticeably before about a decade ago.
Back then the warning to the mushroom sector was to keep the doors to mushroom houses closed to prevent nasty particulate matter from settling on mushrooms, shelving, bags, or compost.
The worry was that the exotic Saharan sand could contain disease vectors that were unknown. No doubt the advice was much the same this time around.
