In Ireland a total of 46 people were killed in work-related accidents in 2013.
The figures from the Health and Safety Authority show the numbers of work-place fatalities are down slightly on 2012, when 48 people died.
Agriculture was the sector with the highest number of fatalities, recording 16 deaths. The new year brings the old message - safety on farm is paramount.
