There was a rise of 8.6 percent in the value of food and drink exports from Ireland in the first six months of this year according to Bord Bia.
There was strong performance in beef exports, which is a tad surprising, considering the horse meat scandal. It is good news, nonetheless.
Edible horticulture and cereals saw a 5 per cent fall (minus €6 million) due to weaker cereal prices. The UK accounted for more than 41 per cent of Irish food and drink exports during the first half of the year.
With whisky and cream liqueurs increasing the value of beverage exports to €555 million, we'll drink to good full year export figures to come.
