Just before kick-off at the Senior Ulster football final in Clones on Sunday 21st July between Monaghan and Donegal a Monaghan pundit interviewed on BBC 2 said:
“We’ve all heard about the cows not being milked - if Monaghan win today, there’ll be no chickens plucked or mushrooms picked this week in the county.”
After a resounding win for both the seniors and the minors the county is on cloud 9.
"Well done the wee hills!" as one letter writer put it.
Who knew that mushroom supply could be so GAA dependent?
