BLACKTHORN FORECAST
Apparently the Blackthorn came out into full bloom in early May. Country folk say that this will give an accurate forecast of cold and wet weather for the following six to eight weeks, with the odd warm day. Seems to be pretty accurate thus far. April was the coldest in 25 years in Ireland, and May has got to be worse going on the recent cold spell. The Met Office in the UK says the jet stream is stuck in a the wrong place and we can expect another dismal summer. Start packing the holiday suitcase now for the sunny destination? Maybe not, seeing how wrong the Met Office got it last year.
