After the news of a possible alliance with Prime Champ earlier in the year, it now transpires that Monaghan Mushrooms has totally subsumed the company.
In a takeover of one of Europe’s biggest mushroom producers, Monaghan has now firmly placed itself as a prime mover on the continent.
Prime Champ was declared bankrupt in the Netherlands on Monday 15th April, and a deal to take over the company by Monaghan was sealed on Thursday 18th.
Financial details were not disclosed. In the process Monaghan now has acquired nearly 700 new employees, bringing the total employed by the group to more than 3,000.
The new Dutch company will be known as Monaghan Champignons, while its German operation will trade as Monaghan Pilze.
