Reading a travel piece on interesting walks in Ireland, Stalker’s attention was arrested by the encounter with deceiving mushrooms at Lackavrea Forest in Co Galway.
The walker enjoyed the slog though the Maam valley and was rewarded with an abundance of mushrooms growing beside the boardwalk- “their names as curious as their shapes and textures: the deceiver, the sulphur tuft, the sickener.”
It hasn’t been a bumper year for the wild mushrooms this year, but they still manage to impress and amaze throughout the country.
