Stalker is always casting about for new words to describe people, events and phases within the mushroom industry.
Sometimes there’s only so much you can say about things and people, before it drags or they call a lawyer – some words that have gone by the wayside this year are flocculent, glabrous and perfervid.
As for the industry, hopefully it fits into the new category of antifragile – a term coined by the black swan guy Nassim Taleb.
An antifragile mushroom industry would be one that can withstand the shocks and strains of the economic times we live in. His book entitled Antifragile: How To Live In A World We Don’t Understand is currently doing the rounds.
Other neologisms that made the CollinsDicitionary.com website, where they choose a word or phrase to represent each month of the year include: Gangnam Style (viewed now over 1 billion times on YouTube –Stalker still hasn’t seen it), fiscal cliff and mummy porn.
Eurogeddon also made it in, as did Romneyshambles – a pun on that other new word omnishambles.
Superstorm also made it in.
Obviously there is a US slant to the words chosen, and not all will make it into the print edition – the phrases and words have to prove that they have longevity before that happens.
