For anyone interested in combine harvesters a field in Co. Meath was the place to be during the summer on July 28th, when the world record for the most combine harvesters doing their thing together was broken.
Combines4charity.com has all the information. The previous event raised €300,000 for four Irish charities.
The whole event took place in Duleek in Co Meath at a field belonging to Michael Lawlor – a main straw supplier to several compost companies in the mushroom sector. Michael has been cutting wheat straw on that field since 1985.
The logistics and organization behind this new world record attempt was phenomenal – a lot of people gave up of their time and expertise to make sure the event came off successfully. In the end, it was 208 combine harvesters working together that sealed the record.
It was one of the finest agricultural spectacles of this summer - congratulations to all involved in the event.
