Stalker caught one of Jamie Oliver’s cookery shows the other day. The celebrity chef was cooking up some portabella mushrooms.
Baking them, after smearing them in oil, herbs, chillies and lemon.
It’s funny though how the act of watching a chef prepping the large mushrooms actually ignited the desire to cook them.
Previously one would have eschewed the larger breakfast flats and portabellos. “seeing as the mushroom is mostly water it’s important to get the flavours in there – the mushroom acts like a sponge for all the oils etc.” So says Jamie.
Seemed slightly oxymoronic – to be mostly water and also act like a sponge – but hey the old patter has worked on this old sceptic – next dinner time Stalker’s eating the mushrooms a la Jamie Oliver - Pukkah.
