The meteorological records just keep on tumbling, as June 2012 was anointed the new champion of wet, wet, wet weather.
In both the UK and Ireland June’s downpours were enough to secure the dampest dismal and dank accolades for this summer month since records began. All due to jet stream turbulence and shifting, apparently.
No matter, the rest of the summer can’t be that bad, can it?
The old spake – a leaking May and a warm June makes the farmer whistle a merry tune – would need to be amended – a leaking May and a worse June makes the farmer hiss a scary tune?
