Stalker loved the headline in one of the UK national papers lately quoting the Governor of The Bank of England, Mervyn King.

  Banks Are An Obstacle To Lending Says King.

If ever there was a classic line to sum up the economic times we live in that is surely a candidate.

The Irish press were carrying similar stories about banks not lending to small businesses, or to anybody much, for that matter.

The question then a begging is - what are they good for?
