Food and drink exports are expected to reach an all-time high of €8.9 billion, an increase of more than 12 per cent on 2010.
Overall, the industry is estimated to be worth €24 billion. The agri-food sector does seem to be performing above expectations in these trying times.
Funnily enough Stalker notes that the food and drink sector is not covered by the IDA in Ireland, but by Enterprise Ireland.
There is apparently no specific governemnet agency FDI strategy for the food sectore – one wonders is that a cause for concern? Or is the sector performing rightly without any more oversight?
