A number of Irish growers made the trip to the Amycel headquarters in the USA towards the end of April. On their visit they visited the largest mushroom farm in the world (Watsonville).
Watsonville is owned by Monterey Mushrooms (a sister company of Amycel). Watsonville uses 100 percent Amycel strains. Indeed the whole Monterey group (who produce more mushrooms than is produced in all Ireland) is 100% Amycel.
This must be the biggest vote of confidence in any spawn company available.
Of course the growers also visited the Amycel US spawn plant.
This plant is one of the most modern spawn producing facilities in the world. It is identical to the Amycel spawn plant in France from which the spawn for Ireland is produced.
