There has been a lot of hullaballoo in the media about property auctions of late.
Some have fallen flat, others have seemed lukewarm responses.
There was a big property auction on July 7 run by Allsop/Space billed as a “distressed” property auction, in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.
There were plenty of lots on offer. One caught the eye - Lot 27 with a maximum reserve price of €75,000. Rathfeigh Lands at Rathfeigh Farm Co. Meath a freehold plot of land formerly used as a mushroom farm.
“The property was not internally inspected by Allsop Space. We are informed by the Receivers that the properties provide: Prefabricated Building, 16 Purpose Built Mushroom Tunnels, Office, Cold Room, and Preparation Area.”
It all seems rather cold and harsh language – in the event the mushroom farm for sold for €170,000.
It’s a sign of the times, and with the European wide economic situation still very tricky – talk of increases in interest rates by ECB and the possible contagion from the Greek and Portuguese crises, maybe we can expect more economic woes.
