Stalker hears that Bernard Connolly, the man behind Marley Compost has finally hung up his composting boots.

Bernard moved his operation to Mayobridge into the former yard of compost man Patsy Murphy.

Word is that production was finally halted in the yard in the middle of May.

Is this another nail in the coffin of diversity within in the industry, or just another fact in the rationalisation of a major exporting sector?

No matter what the analysis, the fact that there is one less mushroom compost producer lessens the industry just that little bit more.
