A late piece of news in last month’s edition, the investment announced at O’Neill Mushrooms of Newtownhamilton, in Co. Armagh - totalling £206k was quite the talking point amongst mushroom industry personnel.
This is quite a major sum of money in these testing economic times, and is testament to the regional strength of the mushroom industry in Ireland.
The knowledge and technical base that exists here allows for local companies to grow and flourish even in the harshest of business climates.
It may not be quite as dramatic an investment as the 1 billion Yuan in China recently, but it is still a good sign for the local economy.
