Stalker is constantly amazed at the propensity for punters to grow their own produce, and specifically mushrooms.
The latest wheeze was spotted in the pages of a glossy weekend magazine – windowsill mushroom kits. One could choose from white button, chestnut or oyster mushrooms. One could buy two kits and get the third one free.
The price of the kits is £8.95, and one just adds water. Simple, eh?
There was an interesting little flavour fact – put freshly picked mushrooms in a paper bag and leave them for a few days – their gills will turn from pink to brown and produce a stronger flavour.
