The word is that mushroom producers up and down the land are investigating alternative energy sources to the max recently.
With the surge in oil prices upon us again, recently well and truly over the $100 a barrel, thoughts are again urgently turning towards more sustainable and cheaper methods of power generation. Woodchip burners, wind power, ethanol, solar – all varieties are being examined in an effort to secure energy at the right price, both for the producer and for the planet.
Enthusiasm for alternative energy sources waxes and wanes with the price of oil and the denying or granting of extra supply of oil by OPEC.
However folk are pretty confident that the price of the black-stuff will just keep going upward, so maybe the time has come to wean off it, if possible.
It ain’t hippie chic, nor boho fashion to go green nowadays – it’s just plain economics.
