The white truffle, a.k.a. the white diamond, was on proud display at the annual truffle auction at Alba, in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy.

One giant white truffle, weighing in at 900g (almost 32 ounces) went to a Hong Kong buyer for €105,000 (£89,000).

The record price paid for a single truffle was set in 2007, when a Macau casino owner paid £ 165,000 for a 1.5 kg specimen.
