Stalker was intrigued this month by the ongoing saga of the chicken litter powered energy facility to be built by Rose Energy near the shores of Lough Neagh at Glenavy. Initially this month the power station got the green light, with planning permission granted by the Department of the Environment.
Then before you could say Bob’s the builder, planning permission was challenged by Communities Against the Lough Neagh Incinerator – CALNI.
Like the extra runway at George Best Belfast City Airport, bogged down in a planning permission challenge quagmire, which so piqued Michael O’Leary’s ire that he is pulling Ryanair out of the airport, the Rose Energy Consortium might find that the road to completion is one filled with obstacles.
Talk of jobs potentially being lost or relocated to Co. Donegal by Randox Laboratories doesn’t help matters for Rose Energy either.
