A new columnist in one of the national newspapers was nearly calling for a ministry of mushrooms this month.
Food writer Rose Prince, writing in The Saturday Telegraph made a fair point in relation to wild fungi.
“If in the future, food stocks are compromised, as doom-mongers predict, fungi are designated a vital survival food. We need to know more about them. A ministry of mushrooms might be going too far – but an interest that goes a beyond reading macabre tales of agonising death is not.”
