Funnily enough, Stalker was not at all surprised to read that the British Retail Consortium (BRC), the shopkeepers’ trade body, piped up to slam the creation of a government-backed adjudicator for the supermarket sector.
The BRC said that the new quango is “unjustified and against the spirit of better regulation”.
The adjudicator will be put in place to help protect farmers from abuses from supermarkets under the new Groceries Supply Code of Practice (GSCOP). Let’s hope the new adjudicator has real teeth, and then we might hear some more bleating from the BRC.
