Stalker ’s imagination was captured by the news that the latest X prize is being offered for the best solutions to oil spills around the world.
The challenge is of course very topical after the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico.
Another reason for Stalker’s interest is that mushrooms have been touted as one excellent way to help clear up oil spills.
The theories promoted by fungi expert Paul Stamets could help some entrepreneurial mycophile to develop a ground breaking methodology and hence scoop up the $1 million prize, and future oil spills.
With mushroom technology now used to create insulation and food packaging, the future potential applications of fungal tech are boundless.
