Stalker was surprised to see another promotional campaign hit the headlines this month.
The Mushroom Bureau announced funding for a £2.2 million three year campaign to promote fresh mushrooms in the UK in a drive to increase consumption.
The report states that the EU has provided 50 per cent of the funding while the other 50 per cent will come from the mushroom industry.
The campaign, supported by the EU and growers and producers from the UK and Ireland will run a fully integrated communications promotion spanning digital, advertising and PR from autumn 2010.
Combined with the Bord Bia More to Mushrooms campaign reported on last month, there is a lot of mushroom promotion happening in the next few months.
Surely a boost in demand will follow the “surge” in plugs for the fresh produce. Let’s hope so.
