The Irish run UK farm of Fernacre has ceased trading this month. Industry watchers aren't sure if the farm went under due to prevailing economic conditions, or whether the undercutting phenomenon that is Polish produce was the cause of the farm's demise. As ever, survival of the fittest is the law that springs to mind – but it can be warped by the vagaries of free market conditions.
