During the middle of February there was a mushroom conference being held in South Africa.
South African Mushroom Farmers Association (SAMFA) held their conference on 16-17 February in the Leriba Lodge, Centurion, Pretoria, South Africa. Stalker is aware that several Irish delegates were travelling to the far off climes to take part. Hopefully attendees will garner useful contacts and perhaps seal some deals.
The conference featured Ireland’s very own expert Helen Grogan speaking on the subject of Virus X, and Trichoderma; and Lize Korsten an expert on food safety assurance in the mushroom industry.
A farm walk at Country Mushrooms was also expected, along with a trade exhibition, the SAMFA AGM and a Gala Dinner. No doubt some very fine South African wines will be flowing at that event highlight.
Stalker hopes to furnish some photographs from the conference in next month’s edition.
